STSM 2000 Hyperbaric Foam Fire Extinguisher
The STSM 2000 is a compact hyperbaric foam fire extinguisher for use on Class A and B fires. As the smaller counterpart to the STSM 5000, it has a 3-litre cylinder with 2 litres of extinguishant while retaining a maximum working depth of 450 metres.
The extinguisher contains non-toxic aqueous foam and supports both intermittent and continuous discharge. Do not use the STSM 2000 on electrical fires over 24 volts.
The unit operates within a temperature range of 2°C to 50°C and has a maximum working pressure of 100 bar. It uses helium, nitrogen or bottom mix as propellant gas, provided the selected gas is compatible with the chamber atmosphere.
Pre-Dive Checks
Before a dive, check the extinguisher’s charge pressure. The required charge pressure ranges from 70 to 100 bar. For dives deeper than 200 metres, the charge pressure must be between 95 and 100 bar.
Check that the safety pin is correctly in place before use. The extinguisher should also be inspected for any signs of leakage, corrosion or mechanical damage as part of the pre-dive checks.
Operation
The STSM 2000 uses a simple operating procedure. Remove the safety pin and aim the nozzle at the base of the fire. Squeeze the trigger to activate the extinguisher.
The design allows both intermittent and continuous discharge, giving the operator control over the release of the aqueous foam extinguishant.
Maintenance and Recharging
The STSM 2000 can be recharged. Maintenance and recharging instructions are provided on the label on the reverse side of the cylinder.
With its 2-litre extinguishant volume and 3-litre total cylinder volume, the STSM 2000 provides a smaller-format option within the STSM hyperbaric foam extinguisher range. It combines its compact capacity with a maximum working depth of 450 metres and is specifically intended for Class A and B fires in hyperbaric conditions.
