Communicator 702 Diver Communication System
The Communicator 702 provides reliable communication between up to two divers and a tender. The system supports both 2-wire and 4-wire communication, which gives operators flexibility when configuring communication for different diving operations. In addition, its portable format keeps the communication equipment together in a practical standalone unit.
For electrical protection, the Communicator 702 uses isolation transformers between the diver connections and the rest of the electrical system. Therefore, the transformers electrically separate the divers from the remaining communication equipment and protect them against exposure to high voltage.
Flexible Power Supply
The Communicator 702 offers several power options. Operators can run the system from its internal battery, an external battery, or a mains supply. As a result, the communicator can work with different available power sources without requiring a different communication unit.
The internal 12 VDC, 3.2 Ah battery provides up to 24 hours of operation. For external DC power, the communicator accepts a voltage range of 10 to 30 VDC. Alternatively, operators can connect the unit to a mains supply of 100–240 VAC at 50–60 Hz.
Furthermore, the Communicator 702 keeps power consumption relatively low. The system draws 90 mA during standby and up to 1500 mA at maximum power consumption. Consequently, the internal battery can support extended operation when mains or external battery power is unavailable.
Battery Monitoring and Automatic Switch-Off
The Communicator 702 also monitors the available supply voltage. When the voltage reaches 10 VDC, the Battery Low LED switches on to indicate the specified low-battery level. Therefore, the operator receives a clear indication before the voltage falls further.
If the supply voltage reaches 8 VDC, the communicator automatically switches off. This automatic function complements the low-battery indication and provides a defined switch-off point for the system.
Portable and Rack-Mounted Options
The portable Communicator 702 measures 300 mm long, 250 mm wide and 200 mm high, or 11.8 × 9.8 × 7.9 inches. Including the battery, the complete unit weighs 6.4 kg / 14.1 lbs.
In addition to the portable model, a rack-mounted version offers another installation option. Overall, the Communicator 702 combines communication for up to two divers and a tender with 2- or 4-wire operation, multiple power options, battery monitoring and electrically isolated diver connections.
