Product description
Contamination Canister
The contamination canister removes human-generated contamination from enclosed environments caused by breathing, vomit, urine, feces and sweat.
Special Filter Blend
The canister contains a special blend of carbon molecular sieves and a catalyst. It removes urea, carbon monoxide, acetone, hydrogen chloride, hydrogen sulphite, carbonyl sulphite, hydrogen, methane, carbondisulphite and butyric acid.
The canister remains stored in an air tight container and starts working once opened and exposed to the environment.
Duration
Each canister lasts for at least 450 hours/person. Calculate the duration by dividing 450 by the number of occupants. For example, with 18 occupants, one canister lasts 25 hours. Three canisters are therefore required for 72 hours.
Following chemical components shall be eliminated:
• Urea (NH2) 2CO from urine
• Carbon monoxide (CO) from endogenous production
• Acetone (GH3 COCH3) metabolic and from organic waste
• Hydrogen chloride (HCL) from vomit
• Hydrogen sulphite (H2S) from feces/intestinal gas
• Carbonyl sulphite (OCS) from intestinal gas
• Hydrogen (H) from intestinal gas
• Methane (CH4) from intestinal gas
• Carbondisulphite (CS2) from intestinal gas
• Butyric acid (C3H1COOH) from intestinal gas
The contamination canister contains a special blend of carbon molecular sieves and a catalyst and is stored in an air tight container. Once the container is opened and the canister is exposed to the environment it starts to work. The canister will last for at least 450 hours/person.
Duration of a canister can be calculated as follows: Divide 450 by number of occupants = hours of duration. Example: a hyperbaric life boat is occupied by 18 persons duration of one canister shall last for 450:18 = 25 hours. So for 72 hours three canisters are needed (72:25=2.88).
